All lessons missed due to scheduling conflicts for the student or me will be made up at an agreeable time.

If you are a new student, you may not know how to choose a lesson length. And if you have already taken music lessons, you may want to know when to change your lesson length. Piano lessons for young students (5-8) are usually 30 minutes, versus students (9-13), who are usually 45 minutes lessons. For adults students (14 and over), one hour should be the standard. I do believe, however, that not one size fits all!  Advanced and motivated young students can benefit from longer lessons. Not all middle-school students are ready for 45 minute lessons — we can make these decisions together.

Without practice, you lessons will not be effective. You can have the best teacher in the world, but if you don’t practice at home, you’ll never progress.  Your practice at home is one-third of the piano lessons and is a necessary component to your success. Make sure that you practice regularly and well to make the most of your lessons.

If you are not practicing consistently, you may do better with a shorter piano lesson. Why? Because you need time to develop habits in your practice at home. If you haven’t had that chance, taking on too much new information in a longer lesson will likely frustrate you more than help you.

Most students find more convenient to pay by check at each lesson, or at the beginning of each month.  If this is the case for you, please make out the checks payable to Dr. Rubén Peláez. To help save you time and energy, I’d like to encourage you to set up online bill pay for piano lessons. Payments should be made by online bill pay scheduled to arrive by the 1st of every month, but if check, cash or bank payments are late, there is a $15 dollars late fee.  When an account becomes more than 30 days past due, it will be considered in default and lessons will have to discontinue.  Scheduled online bill payments through your bank are therefore the most reliable way to ensure that lessons are never discontinued for your child.

I also recommend you use PayPal for payments online. Though it is convenient, PayPal is not free. If you choose to use PayPal, you agree to pay the fee associated.  However, if you book and pay for four (4) lessons through PayPal, I waive the fee!

One of the great things about my online piano lessons is that music theory / learning to read sheet music and practical lessons are integrated into one seamless holistic lesson, so there are no lengthy boring explanations. Instead, during practical lessons, you are deeply involved in music theory, general knowledge and note-reading techniques almost imperceptibly, so you are learning these things while continually being engaged and actively participating in the lesson.
